Littmann stethoscopes are some of the highest quality stethoscopes on the market. The attention to detail and craftsmanship in their manufacturing is apparent when you pick one up. 3M/Littmann does an admirable job of backing their workmanship with strong warranty terms for each of their models. That said, if you are a heavy user of your stethoscope there will most likely come a time when a part for you stethoscope gets broken or is lost. If you are like me and can’t experience any downtime with your stethoscope then it makes sense to keep some spare parts around. This will prevent you from having to unnecessarily purchase a new stethoscope, and also eliminates the need to send it off for repairs.

Littmann has parts kits available for most of its models. These parts kits include spare ear tips, a spare diaphragm, and spare non-chill rims for the chest piece. Ear tips are exchanged easily with a few gentle twists of the ear tips from the binaurals, and the place the new ones you simply reverse steps. The rims easily stretch to allow them to be eased off of the metal rim of the chest piece. This allows for removal of the diaphragm. Changing the parts is easy, and certainly within the ability of anyone who uses a stethoscope on a daily basis.
